SIMPLISTIC AND MINIMALISTIC DESIGN.

Taiyo Pacific Partners LP is a strategic investment firm concentrating in the Asian markets, specifically Japan. Taiyo was moving their headquarters from San Francisco to Seattle and we were able to meet the client’s needs under an aggressive timeline.

Taiyo wanted the design of their new space, located on Lake Washington in Kirkland, to express their connection to the Japanese culture. Upon entering the space, one is introduced with Japanese indigenous elements; rows of bamboo stalks are lined up along the wall, natural stones and pebbles surround them while juxtaposed with the harsh rustic stone on the floor. On the ceiling, wood beams are laid out rhythmically from the entrance and throughout the main thoroughfare, leading eventually into the executive wing. Furthermore, offices along the perimeter of the building adjacent to the lake beyond are designed with full glass fronts with wood strips in-between to mimic shoji screens, a partition allowing individual privacy without obstructing the natural light and serene landscape from entering their space. The rich dark wood against soft natural color palette offered a simplistic and minimalistic design that both reflected our client’s needs as well as Japanese ideals.
