Microsoft - RTC3 - XBOX

SAME SPACE. DIFFERENT STORY.
When we worked with Microsoft to design the space for their X-Box team, we were already very familiar with Redmond Town Center Building 3. Twenty years ago, we had remodeled the same space for AT&T and then returned post-AT&T move-out to do a lobby refresh for the building owner. While Microsoft didn’t maintain AT&T’s original design, they did keep some of the design elements from the lobby, including the existing tile and carpeting.
Because the space would be occupied by the X-Box team, elements of game design were used as inspiration. To reflect the contrast between early, conceptual wireframes and high-fidelity renderings, there is a high contrast of raw, industrial materials and refined, warm materials—perforated metal and raw concrete are juxtaposed with reclaimed wood and bright pops of color. The result is a dramatic space, with areas of light and dark and strong geometric forms.
