RAW MATERIALITY WITH A CRAFTSMAN FEEL.

Prior to moving into their new space, Lydig’s office was approximately 70% closed offices and 30% workstations with high panels. Lydig’s management team wanted their firm to be competitive with other construction firms and to attract young workers in the construction field. As we took Lydig through the Visioning and Programming phases, we explained the many benefits of an open office concept that would help to meet Lydig’s goals for their new office. We worked with NBBJ’s branding department from the beginning. The teams collaborated, giving each other input on how the branding would affect the architecture and vice versa. For example, we were able to capture and artistic expression of Lydig’s new branding in the door handles. We designed the space to have multiple options for conferencing and collaborative zones. In keeping with the history of Lydig’s family-owned business beginnings, we used honest materials throughout the space. Raw steel, stone and reclaimed wood are intentionally used to exude a feeling of history, authenticity and craftsmanship. Lydig’s new office achieved LEED Certified status.
