MODERN SPACE WITH GRITTY VIBE.
Group14 is bringing advanced silicon battery materials to the world. Their scalable modular manufacturing process eliminates the barriers that have slowed the world’s transition to the all-electric future.
Group14 wanted a space that evoked the future forward-thinking goals of their company. This space was designed to allow them to provide tours for potential investors through their state-of-the-art 3,000 sf R&D lab, with a separate space for meeting and offices. In order to accommodate their new program, a second level was added housing office and meeting areas. On level two, a framed cantilever glass wall hovers over the “Sandbox” lab allowing visitors to watch the workings from above. Glass fronted enclosed labs are positioned on both sides of the central hall on the first floor allowing a close up look at the work going on in the lab spaces. Finishes were inspired by the silver and black colors of the silicon carbide material used in the batteries, along with touches of their signature blue color. The space perfectly melds in an industrial feel by keeping the concrete wall exposed and raw. This results in a unique blend of a sharp and modern space with a gritty industrial vibe.
