Lynnwood Crossroads
Lynnwood, WA
A BENCHMARK IN PEDESTRIAN-SCALED RETAIL AND COMMUNITY PRIDE.
The design concept for Lynnwood Crossroads was to take this large suburban lot at the crossing of 2 major arterials, Highway 99 and 196th St SW and create a retail complex based on a pedestrian-scaled town center that would be an alternative to the large Alderwood Mall, just a mile away. Rather than pushing retail tenants to the back of a large parking lot as in the Alderwood Mall complex, the Lynnwood Crossroads concept lined the busy street edges with smaller and more family-scaled retail.
Lynnwood Crossing has been a big success in providing an activated street-oriented retail experience and a shopping alternative to the Alderwood Mall complex. It has become the the city’s new benchmark development example of pedestrian-scaled retail and community pride.
