LOCAL MATERIALS CREATE A REGIONAL STORY THROUGHOUT THE SPACES.
Microsoft Pebble Beach is comprised of three 110,000 square foot buildings located within Microsoft’s Redmond campus. In collaboration with Clive Wilkinson Architects, we worked to create a network of spaces that provide an open, airy environment to encourage movement and collaboration within the tenants. In an effort to open the space and create a sense of fluidity, inner walls of the building were taken down and an atrium was constructed to enhance the natural light throughout the buildings. The open design of the space allows tenants and visitors to see from one end of the building through to the other and beyond to the surrounding buildings, an element the tenant desired as a means of reducing the sense of separation between structures and tenants. Microsoft’s Pacific Northwest roots were integrated into the buildings using natural, local materials that work to create a regional story throughout the spaces. Neutral colors and reclaimed wood fill the space, while small furniture pieces provide pops of color.
